After due consideration, I have lodged my paperwork and had it entered for the upcoming Local Government elections for Tamworth Regional Council.
Its been a wonderful experience over the past 4 years and as the second youngest, yes that's true, at 56 I feel I can offer plenty to the team that builds over the next 4 years.
I note most of my colleagues have also re nominated at this stage, so I guess it is now up to the community to decide what happens next.
Personally I am not a member of a Political Party, have not been for around 3 years. I am 56 and think I may have been a member of a party for no more than 5 years in that time. Why does that matter? Well Local Government should be free of any encumbrances except the desire to listen, negotiate and add value, alignment to any other "line" should not be part of the process.
In local government we lobby those in and out of power, we seek support the same way.
I will admit from checking my vote compass a few times I sit as a Conservative voter, I do identify with many ideas and ideals however from all "political persuasions" where they seem or a re deemed to suit the greater good.
Next step...get the name out there. So if you are a registered voter in the upcoming TRC Local Government elections please consider me?
